Photos - just for the fun of it . . .

Life's been a bit hectic lately and no time to think about blogging but this evening I grabbed a few minutes to have a look at the garden close up and take a few photos. Mainly for the family and people who like photos of flowers.

Please feel free to click away at this point if you fit into neither of the categories above . . .

OK then, for anybody who might be left, here goes . . .

An exuberant camellia.

A hydrangea in hiding . . .

. . . and delightful dahlias.

I think this combination of fuchsias and lavender really works well.

Lovely old-fashioned roses.

And some not quite so old-fashioned.

I was pleased with this shot. Not bad considering it was taken with a basic 'point and shoot' camera, and through a window.

Oh, yes, and we had a lovely Corpus Christi procession on Sunday too!

So much going on . . .

Oh, there's so much happening at the moment and I just can't find the time to give it all enough thought to put together a coherent blog post.

But . . .

Hooray for the restoration of the Friday Fast by the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales!

Three cheers for the recently given Instruction, Universæ Ecclesiæ!

Alleluia for the Ordinariate ordinations!

Who knows, at this rate, maybe we'll even get to have 'Ascension Thursday' back again!

More later, when things calm down a bit . . .

This 'n' that . . .

Sorry for the lack of posting recently. Life just seems to be a bit busy at the moment. I'm managing to post a few Tweets on Twitter but don't seem to be able to find enough 'thinking' time to put together anything more than a few words.

I've had a few very enjoyable outings recently. The Pater Familias and I spent a lovely peaceful couple of nights in the New Forest last week to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and my birthday. A much needed break for both of us.

Today I spent my day off with a friend visiting Denbies Vineyard near Dorking in Surrey. We managed to have a lovely walk around the estate and had time to visit the shop and chat over tea and cakes too.

Lots going on in the parish with beautiful Rosary and Benediction every Sunday afternoon throughout October and continuing throughout November too. I love the prayerful atmosphere that envelopes you as soon as you walk into church. Now that the clocks have gone back it's even more atmospheric as we just have the light of the candles on the altar and very minimal background lighting.

I imagine things are going to get busier still as we get nearer 'you-know-what' (the 'C' word)!

Frazzled . . .

So sorry folks, no time for a proper post. Maybe we'll get snowed in and then I'll have a good excuse to forget about all the shopping etc. that still needs to be done.

Have you noticed everywhere you go, you see women walking around looking 'shell-shocked' muttering to themselves, 'never again . . . I say this every year' ? Meanwhile the men look on with bemused expressions as if to say, ' I dunno what all the fuss is about - a bit of extra shopping and a glorified Sunday lunch?- it's a piece of cake' !! :-)
Update (13th January 2010)
Oh dear, I've just realised what I said! Me and my big mouth - fancy actually wishing to get 'snowed in'.

Busy-ness ...

I've spent the last few weeks trying to book our annual retreat for our Team in Teams of Our Lady. Shouldn't be that difficult, you'd think to find a weekend date that would suit all five couples.

Ha ha - 'you're 'avin' a larf ain't ya?'

It started off so well ... the retreat centre could even offer us a couple of weekend before Easter - fantastic.

OK, just check with the Team that we could all make it ... I'll give everyone a few dates to consider .... easy, peasy!

Right then ... so we can't manage that then ... OK, no problem, I'll just get back to the centre and ask for a few more possible dates.

Hey, everybody, I've managed to find several weekends between Easter and October that they can fit us in.

Fine, .... so we're looking at November now, then - uh ha.

Oh, you don't have any free weekends at the centre in November? You could offer us the 2nd week in December?

Thank you. I'll get back to you .....

We'll get a retreat organised eventually. I'm not giving up that easily!
